Job Description
Participants working as a Food Service Helper will perform a variety of duties:
- Assist chefs and other kitchen staff by preparing the ingredients used to create all dishes, entrees, sauces, and side dishes.
- Chop vegetables, herbs, and other ingredients, trim and slice meats, and stir sauces and soups. Participants will also portion and wrap food, assemble plates (such as salads), and clean utensils and kitchen surfaces.
- Store foods in designated containers and storage areas.
- Clean dishes, bus tables, run food or beverages as needed.
- Participant may also help with general service for restaurant customers.
- Participant may be changing duties at times in the restaurant to ensure smooth operation.
- Participants will be standing for long periods of time in this job position.
- Participants will be using cleaning chemicals. Participants will be handling pork products.

Housing Description
Participants will share four bedroom, three bathroom house. Each participant will have their own twin bed and participants will share the common living spaces. The house is fully furnished. Laundry facilities are on site.
Blankets and linens are not provided by the host. Participants may purchase blankets and linens at the Walmart in Gunnison upon their arrival for about $60.
WiFi is available at the house and at the restaurant for free. Participants can use their web enabled devices to access the internet in restaurants and cafes in town.
If participants are fired or quit, they will be required to vacate their housing within 48 hours.

Community Description
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Lake City is located in “the most remote County in the lower 48 States”. Tourists come to Lake City to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city and partake in outdoor mountain activities. The County’s permanent winter population is approximately 300. The permanent summer population is approximately 500, but soars to over 5,000 once the tourists arrive. The area is VERY rural, as there are no traffic lights, and only one paved road. Historical homes and mining structures have been restored to near-original condition. Lake City is located at an elevation of 8,661 feet, so participants should be prepared to adapt to a higher elevation. The town of Lake City is surrounded by beautiful mountains and trees, spectacular scenery, and abundant wildlife. Visitors often see moose, deer, elk, porcupine, marmots, the American Bald Eagle, and numerous other birds.
