Job Description

Lifeguard
Lifeguard is responsible for monitoring the well-being of guests, ensuring their safety by preventing and responding to emergency situations both in and out of water. Should an emergency occur, lifeguards are responsible for taking quick and decisive action and providing the appropriate emergency care.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring guest safety and provide exceptional guest service.
  • Standing/sitting in and out of water for long periods of time.
  • Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies.
  • Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Inspect facility as required and report any unsafe conditions or equipment.
  • Maintaining skills at a rescue-ready level at all times.
  • Remain alert and attentive at all times.
  • Participate in regular in-service training sessions.
  • Maintain professional lifeguarding practices at all times.
  • Keep the facilities and property clean and comfortable for guests.
  • Female employees are expected to work even during menstruation.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required skills: 

  • Knowledge of all facets of hotel including guest relations, as they apply to Chula Vista Resort, is required.
  • The ability to work with other people effectively in a staff position is important.
  • Must have the ability to think creatively regarding the needs of the resort and solve problems or seize opportunities as they occur.
  • Must have the ability to clearly define objectives.
  • Strong swimmer.

Work schedule: Schedule varies between 6am-12pm

Job Description

Kitchen Assistant
Cook and prepare a variety of food products including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, breads and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils according to the Daily Prep List.

Responsibilities and Duties
The primary responsibilities and duties of the Prep Cook consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Complete opening and closing checklists.
  • Refer to Daily Prep List at the start of each shift for assigned duties.
  • Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
  • Understands and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
  • Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, walls grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, saute burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen.
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
  • Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems to Kitchen Manager.
  • Inform Kitchen Manager immediately of product shortages.
  • Uses our Standard Recipe Card for preparing all products. Do not rely on the memory of yourself or other employees.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty.

Required skills: Kitchen Assistant should have some previous work experience related to food prep and know their way around the kitchen

Description:

Students are required to live in housing provided by Chula Vista.

Housing is dorm-style. Participants will live in a bedroom with up to 4 people; each participant will have his/her own bed (arranged in bunks) and closet. Common areas are shared by up to 4 bedrooms (up to 16 people). Common area includes a kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom is shared among dorm occupants–there are 2 showers, 2 toilets, and 3 sinks.

Additional comments: Each room will feature one bed per Participant. Rooms are provided with air conditioning/heating, dressers, and a private bathroom. Students will have access to a laundry facility for a small fee to wash their own clothing.
