Job Description

AQUATICS TEAM MEMBER/ LIFE GUARD:
Provides a safe environment for all park Guests while watching various bodies of water in a theme park environment.

  • Required to go through Ellis and Associates training to become a Certified Lifeguard in shallow and/or deep water. Training is provided by Elitch Gardens, however this training is unpaid. Elitch Gardens will pay for the cost of the training class. Training will be held over a short period of time, prior to opening of the park.
  • Responsible for operating water attractions and slides.
  • Must be able to adhere to all lifeguard requirements.
  • Maintains a safe experience for every Guest through diligence of constant focus and attention on Guests and water and adherence to all lifeguard protocols presented in training.
  • Greet and provide Guests with courteous service.
  • Inform Guests of and enforce attraction safety requirements and park policies.
  • Maintain water park cleanliness when not guarding or in position.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • All job offers contingent on passing a drug and alcohol test.

Required skills

  • Must possess oral and written English skills and be able to read and understand operations manuals.
  • Must be able to communicate with Guests and other employees effectively.
  • Previous experience in life-guarding is helpful, but not required.
  • Strong swimming ability is preferred.
  • Some positions require working at elevated heights.
  • Required to work in various weather conditions.
  • Available to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Requires standing, sitting, kneeling and bending. Requires walking, reaching above shoulder, pushing and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 10 – 150 pounds with the assistance of a co-worker.
  • Occasionally lift and carries more than 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Possess 20/20 corrected vision (corrective lenses, if required, must be worn while on duty.)

  • Shallow Water Lifeguard: Swim to and pick up a ten-pound brick out of five feet of water; Swim 50 yards; Must be able to exit the pool without the use of ladders, stairs & zero depth.
  • Special Facilities Lifeguard: Swim to and pick up a ten-pound brick out of six feet of water; Swim 200 yards; Tread for two minutes without the use of your hands.
  • Must be able to exit the pool without the use of ladders, stairs & zero depth. Housing is participant arranged and the responsibility of the participant to arrange before arrival.
  • Will be exposed to cleaning supplies, chemicals, bodily fluids, water, dirt and dust.
  • All jobs are contingent on passing drug and alcohol tests.

Work schedule: Ability to work weekends and holidays is required. Shifts are 6:00 am – 23:30 pm. Hours are subject to change due to weather and personnel.

  • Possess 20/20 corrected vision (corrective lens, if required, must be worn while on duty.
  • Possess normal or average corrected hearing. If a corrective device is needed to achieve this range, it must be worn while on duty.

Park Service Team Member
Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness standards are met in assigned areas.
Specific duties and requirements:
– Work to provide clean midways, back areas, landscaping, park fixtures, and restrooms.
– Execute cleaning tasks as outlined in training and Standard Operating Procedures.
– Provide guests with a safe, clean, and entertaining atmosphere. Assist guests as needed with questions and concerns.
