Job Description

Supermarket Associate
All participants are hired in as Supermarket Associate Positions. Specific position in the supermarket will be determined during Orientation with Store Manager. Positions will be mutually agreed upon for best fit for participant. Once a position has been assigned, participants will be expected to work in their assigned department for the duration of their program. Positions and role requirements are not gender specific. All positions will be expected to assist in maintaining store cleanliness and thus may be required to use cleaning chemicals. This may include cleaning bathrooms, mopping floors, and other general sanitary needs. Participants should be prepared to work outside in all weather conditions.

All positions will require standing for the entire duration of the shift.

All Associates must provide quality customer service to customers, engage and interact with customers to create a positive shopping experience. Understand and adhere to Food Safety guidelines and procedures, adhere to all company guidelines, policies and procedures. The attached descriptions are general summaries and may not encompass all responsibilities; duties may change as instructed by management. Must meet productivity standards established by Food Lion.

Participants will be required to handle all types of food in various roles. THIS INCLUDES
PORK/MEAT PRODUCTS AND ALCOHOL PRODUCTS. Please be sure you have no allergies
or restrictions that will prevent you from handling seafood, meat (pork), dairy, produce, etc and thus prevent you from doing your job.

Program Dates: Your official start date and end date with Food Lion will be listed on your
Form DS-2019, in your participant portal, and on your signed offer letter in at the top in
the EXCHANGE VISITOR INFORMATION SECTION.

PLEASE NOTE, THE EARLIEST START DATE, LATEST START DATE, EARLIEST END DATE, AND LATEST END DATES listed at the top of the offer letter in the JOB INFORMATION SECTION are just ranges. Your official program dates are listed below this
in the EXCHANGE VISITOR INFORMATION SECTION.

In order to receive your Food Lion Bonus and housing deposit back, you will need to successfully participate between those dates listed on your Form DS-2019 and in the
EXCHANGE VISIOR INFORMATION SECTION.

Required skills

Participants are required to take a 30-minute unpaid meal break for shifts exceeding 5 hours. In addition, participants are required to take a paid 10-minute rest break. All breaks require participants to clock in and clock out according to Food Lion policy. In addition, all times for breaks/lunches are determined by the Manager on duty.

Breaks are scheduled at the sole discretion of management and are not authorized until the associate has been on the job for at least two hours.

Rest breaks are on-the-clock and are allowed in the designated break areas (break room, designated outside break area or designated smoking area).

In order to meet customer or store/warehouse needs, management may need to call an associate off break. If this occurs, the associate is usually allowed to take the remainder of his or her break later that day.

MUST BE ABLE TO RIDE A BIKE, AS THIS WILL BE YOUR PRIMARY FORM OF
TRANSPORTATION. Please note there is NO public transportation in this area.

May need to lift anywhere from 10 lbs – 70 lbs. Participants will need to walk and stand for long periods of time and may be required to wear a wireless communicator.

Ability to read, write (in English) and perform basic math functions, communicate with the customers, meet production standards established by Food Lion. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift as noted above.

Must be friendly and respectful towards supervisors (male and female), coworkers, customers, and other program participants.

Work schedule: Schedules are given each week and will vary. Shifts are typically 8 hours anytime between the hours of 4am-1am. Set shifts are not guaranteed and may not be given to accommodate second jobs. Any second job must accommodate Food Lion schedule.

Job Benefits

Participants are eligible to receive a $300 bonus upon completion of the program. All participants MUST fulfill all company policies and procedures that are mentioned in the Food Lion Guidelines as well as ALL information provided to them during their initial training orientation. If you leave your program early, before the end of your DS 2019 you will lose your housing deposit and bonus.

Participants must submit their valid social security number, ARE EXPECTED TO START
MPLOYMENT ON START DATE AND WORK THROUGH PROGRAM END DATE LISTED ON DS-2019, and have completed their job agreement duration in good standing to be eligible for their bonus and housing deposit.

PARTICIPANT HOUSING MUST BE KEPT CLEANED DURING THEIR PROGRAM AND REMAIN IN THE SAME CONDITION AS WHEN MOVED IN (cleaned, and no damages) in order to receive their bonus and full housing deposit. No indoor furniture is to be taken outside for ANY reason.

Participants that do not provide a SSN may not receive their end of season bonus.

There are no partial Bonuses – ALL OR NONE. Bonuses are paid at the discretion of Food Lion. Bonus checks and housing deposits will be cut within 6 months of program end date.

For participants not enrolled in Direct Deposit, bonus check will be mailed to AAG and then forwarded to home country agencies.

AAG strongly recommends enrolling in Direct Deposit in order to receive paycheck, bonus, and housing deposit. It is also recommended that you keep your direct deposit account open until all eligible payments have been received.

Upon request and completion of program in good standing, sponsor may award a
Certificate of Completion of Program and any other training certifications.

Description

Food Lion is responsible for locating, vetting, and securing a safe and affordable housing option for participants by assigning a housing facility. The job offer is contingent upon participant living at assigned housing facility. Participant is responsible for signing lease, paying housing deposit (if applicable), and living expenses directly to facility and service providers (i.e. utility company). Cost will be $150 per participant per week. There is a $25 non-refundable administration fee paid to AAG and a $250 Deposit collected by AAG prior to arrival. The $200 deposit will be applied towards the facility deposit (some may have up to a $350 deposit, the remainder of which is due upon arrival). Two weeks advanced rent is due upon arrival.

Participant will receive all housing details prior to arrival from overseas agency or AAG representative. Housing costs, transportation, and amenities may vary among properties. Housing details will be provided to participant at a later date, all details will be confirmed prior to arrival. Units may be co-ed, but room assignments will be made based on gender identification, arrival dates, and landlord requirements.

Food Lion is responsible for locating, vetting, and securing a safe and affordable housing option for participants by assigning a housing facility. Cost will be $150 per participant per week and it is payroll deducted. A security deposit will also be required. Security deposits might vary between $250-$350, depending on housing location. Security deposits will be due upon arrival in the U.S. or payroll deducted from the participant`s first Food Lion paycheck. Security deposit final details will be provided 30 days prior to participant arrival.

Participant will be assigned to housing at the Food Lion orientation on their DS-2019 start date. Housing costs, transportation, and amenities may vary among properties. Units may be co-ed, but room assignments will be made based on gender identification, arrival dates, and landlord requirements. Any requests for rooming together for groups of friends are to be made 60 days prior to your DS-2019 start date to your home country agency. Please note that there is no guarantee that your request will be approved.
