Job Description
As a lifeguard you will have to ensure a safe and healthy environment for the
swimmers. In addition, the lifeguard must check and maintain specific chemical levels
in the pool. Additional required duties are: Cleaning the pool and surrounding area,
cleaning the restrooms, trash removal and enforcing gate control at the facility.
Specific duties may include but are not limited to any combination of the following :
- Ensuring guest safety and provide exceptional guest service.
- Standing/sitting in and out of water for long periods of time.
- Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies.
- Enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations.
- Inspect facility as required and report any unsafe conditions or equipment.
- Maintaining skills at a rescue-ready level at all times.
- Remain alert and attentive at all times.
- Participate in regular in-service training sessions.
- Maintain professional lifeguarding practices at all times.
- Keep the facilities and property clean and comfortable for guests.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Special requirements :
Please be advised you will only be assigned to a Site of Activity once you arrive in the United States.
Minimum swimming requirements – Lifeguard Training by ARC
*Swim 300 meters un-timed swim using both Freestyle and Breaststroke.
*Swim 20 meters and submerge to a depth of 3 meters to pick up a 5 kg brick. Then bring the brick to the surface and swim on your back holding the brick above the water to the starting point.
*Once this portion of the class is completed you move onto the remainder of the class, where First Aid, CPR, Rescue Techniques are taught. The duration of a class is 3 days. Red Cross Lifeguard Training – $200
* Employees will receive the American Red Cross (CPR) certificate, lifeguard certification, and first aid certificate, which is all valid for 2 years.
* Free Pool Operator certificate, a $75 value Employer will assist you in training for this course.
Housing is tied into this offer, if you are fired from this placement you will need to vacate the housing as well.
Required skills :
- Must be in good physical condition with 20/20 vision
- Ability to work in outside elements of heat, humidity, rand and wind
Work schedule : Varies can be scheduled between 6:00am – 11:00pm Including weekend & public holidays
Average hours over 2 weeks period : 40+ hours per week
Rates of pay :
Regular Time – $15/HR Over Time – $22.5/HR (for all hours over 40 in the same week)
Returners :
Regular Time -$ 15.25/HR Over Time -$ 22.88/HR (for all hours over 40 in the same week)
**Average weekly hours: 40+ on average for the season (weather dependent)**
Job Benefits
Allowances, bonuses, and/or incentives :
Beginning of the season bonus eligibility : $300 (based on performance). Must arrive
before May 21. The participant will receive the bonus with the second check. Violation of the MGN Pools Safety Code and Policies will result in loss of bonus End of the season bonus eligibility: $500 (based on performance). Must arrive before June 1 and work until September 1, 2025. Violation of the MGN Pools Safety Code and
Policies will result in a bonus loss.
