Job Description

Under the direction of supervisor, Culinary Associates/Cooks prepare food required for food service operation, restaurant and banquets, in accordance with Company’s Standards and applicable Operational Standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares food products according to Company standards and specifications
  • Utilizes kitchen equipment such as steamers, grills, ovens, pots, or warmers to prepare food items
  • Retrieves all items necessary for preparation from storage areas
  • Prepares specific food items and stations and sets up for anticipated business
  • Serves product to guests
  • Maintains food, utensils, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner
  • Maintains kitchen with minimal spillage and breakage
  • Labels, dates and wraps food product, adhering to procedures
  • Follows all safety, security, and kitchen procedures
  • Communicates with chef for any special instructions or training
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior food preparation experience preferred, but not required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and comprehend prep sheets and recipes
  • Ability to use kitchen tools safely (knives and small equipment)
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Ability to handle pork or alcohol products

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequent standing or walking for entire length of shift
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to chop, mix, blend, or whip a variety of foods and liquids
  • Ability to move rapidly and coordinate multiple orders
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent bending and squatting

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a kitchen environment and noise levels may be moderate to high
  • Exposed to variable temperatures, depending on the season and may work frequently in a hot or damp environment
  • May be required to work in confined space

Housing Description

Participants will be housed in Univ. of Wisconsin Milwaukee Cambridge Commons, which is a housing community for students studying at the university. Each suite has two bedrooms and one bathroom. There will be 4 participants per suite. Bedrooms have two sets of bunk beds and 2 participants will be assigned to each bedroom. Bedrooms will be divided by gender. Each bedroom also has a desk, chair, and dresser for each participant and a large closet.

Participants must provide their own cookware. Standard suite has a refrigerator; upgraded suite has kitchenette. Bed linens are provided but participants should bring towels. Participants also have access to the workout room, common lounge rooms, patio, and onsite coin-operated laundry.

  • The standard private bedroom is $25.00 per night.
  • The upgrade private bedroom* is $33.00 per night
  • The standard shared bedroom is $20.00 per night (up to 4 people in unit)
  • The upgrade shared bedroom* is $26.00 per night

$140 – $231 per week

Housing Deposit Required

A $300.00 non-refundable deposit is due before arrival. Participants will be given instructions on how to submit the deposit after they are hired. Participants will need to register for housing soon after being hired to guarantee availability. Units will be inspected before the final rent payment is due and, if there is no damage to the unit, the deposit is then applied to the final rent payment. The deposit can also be applied towards any late rent payments or items missing from the unit. Rent is paid through cards, or electronically through Cambridge Commons. Details about registering will be sent upon arrival.

Community Description
