Job Description
Lifeguards must constantly monitor guests in pools and surrounding area and ensure that guests follow the pool rules. Lifeguards will be next to or in chlorinated water and will be in direct sunlight for long periods of time. Participants will be standing, sitting, and walking for long periods of time.
Lifeguards must ensure a safe and healthy environment for the swimmers. Lifeguards must be able to recognize and react properly in emergency situations. Lifeguards must also check and maintain specific chemical levels in the pool and operate the pool filtration system. Lifeguards will be handling chemicals. Additional required duties include, but are not limited to, cleaning the pool, surrounding area- deck, guard office, pump room, and restrooms. Job duties also include removing trash, enforcing facility rules, and gate control.
If lifeguards work 6.5 hours or more at a multi-guard facility, they are required by law to take a 30 minute break, which is unpaid.
The hiring wage for ALL lifeguards is $13. A very small number of participants may have the opportunity to work in Washington DC, but this should NOT be expected. The wage in Washington DC is $15.50/hour, but the vast majority of participants will not work in DC, so they will not earn this higher wage.
Job Benefits
Participants are eligible for a bonus of up to $400: $150 for employees who work on or before May 28th and $250 for employees who work the entire Labor Day weekend, including September 5th.

Housing Description
Housing is provided for $130 per week per person. This cost includes the following utilities: water, air-conditioning, gas, sewer, trash, and electric. WiFi and cable TV are not included in the rent. Each week starts on Saturday in correspondence with each payroll week. Participants are responsible for the entire week’s rent, regardless of arrival date. All housing agreements will end on September 9, 2025. Alternative housing will be available past this date. Apartments are partially furnished. Individual beds are provided. Apartments come with a full kitchen and all utensils necessary to prepare meals. Participants must provide personal necessities such as towels, sheets, pillows, and toiletries. Housing is shared by approximately 5-7 participants per apartment and 2-3 participants per bedroom.
Housing requests will be considered but are not guaranteed. Participants might stay in temporary housing during training. Conditions of temporary housing will be similar to permanent housing.

Community Description
Washington D.C. (which is the capital city of the U.S.), Maryland and Northern Virginia together make up a very large metropolitan area. There is plenty to see and do, as our pools are located in and around seasonal areas and there is a lot going on in our community. The location provides participants with easy access to travel destinations along the East Coast of the United States. It is very easy to travel by bus, train, or airplane to tourist sites such as Washington DC, New York City, Baltimore, Philadelphia, the list goes on!
